The Ultimate Curly Hair Guide - Best Hair Ties for Curly Hair

Discover Hairstrong’s game changing adjustable bands that keep your curls undamaged when up in an updo.

There are a lot of unique challenges that come with having curly hair - the frizz, the breakage - you know the drill. On top of that, there have been so many products that launched with the premise of being made for curly hair but how can they be for curly hair if they’re still advertised as one-size-fits-all (*cough* talking about you, hair ties).

These hair ties when looped in can cause breakage, extra frizz, ugly creases, or get super tangled in your curls. That’s why we created an option where you have complete control of how tight you want your band to be in your hair.

How is Hairstrong Different?

Hairstrong is the best hair tie for curly hair because it not only keeps your curls secure, but protects them at the same time. Now you’re probably wondering “ya, I’ve heard this all before.”

Perhaps. But what you haven’t seen before is the revolutionary toggle that we have on our bands that gives you the power of tightening or loosening the hair band at will. Want it tighter? Done. Want it looser? Easy.

The adjustable feature on our bands is exactly why we have the best hair ties for curly hair.

When we first launched our product, we launched an athletic line that uses a nylon/spandex material that is sweat wicking, soft, gentle, and durable. When you’re active and always on the go, this is the go to band to loop, tighten, and go. However, since then, we’ve also launched a silk collection with our adjusting mechanism that adds functionality to luxury.

Benefits of Hairstrong’s Adjustable Bands

  1. Gentle on curls. You can have it as tight or loose as you want whenever you wear it. The ability to adjust means reducing the risk of breakage, minimizing frizz, and being gentler on your curls.
  2. Secure hold. With the toggle, you can control the tightness down to the millimeter means getting that perfect in the “between 2 loops being too loose and 3 loops being too tight” hold. You can customize the hold for whatever hairstyle like ponytails and buns that stay in place throughout the day.
  3. No More Tangles. our bands have a soft and gentle fabric on the outside that prevents the band from being tangled within your locks. Our silk collection is even softer & gentler on your hair which means an even easier way to take it out of your hair. You can also loosen the tension on each band for a smooth and easy take off.
  4. Stylish and Versatile. We have 4 different types of bands that can be used for any occasion whether you’re going to the gym or to the ball so that you can look good and know your hair isn’t going anywhere.
  5. Adjustable Design. The innovative design ensures a snug fit that is tailored to you. No more one-size-fits-all, it’s one-size-fits-you. No more excessive tension or discomfort. Only the perfect hairstyle.
  6. Long Lasting. With our experience, normal elastics or scrunchies only last a finite amount of time before stretching out and becoming unusable. Let’s do some girl math here and on a per wear basis, you’d be getting way more value out of bands that actually work - every, single, time.

Different Types of Hairstrong Bands

We have four different types of bands that can meet the needs of your hair no matter how thick or curly it is.

The Everyday band is our sleekest option. If you want a band that doesn’t have a lot of fabric on the outside and doesn’t stand out as much - this option is for you.

The Tough band is a little tougher to handle thick or heavy curls. This band has more fabric than the everyday band that offers more protection and a stronger toggle to offer a more durable hold for buns while engaging in high impact activities.

The Small Silk band is a favorite for sleep. The combination of our 100% mulberry silk plus our revolutionary toggle adds the perfect touch of functionality to elegance. This also doubles as a cut wrist accessory for when you want to keep your hair down.

The Large Silk band is the go-to for an elegant touch on any outfit. This band has a lot of fabric that makes any hairstyle look stylish and put together.

How to Use Hairstrong’s Adjustable Bands

Instead of just relying on looping an elastic around your desired hairstyle, we’ve added an extra layer of secureness which is to loop AND THEN lock the band in place with the toggle.

Step 1: Loop the elastic band around your hair 2-3 times. The perfect number of loops depends on each person but we would describe it as “it’s almost snug”

Step 2: Pinch the toggle & pull the cord to tighten the last little bit to an optimal, secure fit, that you’re confident will stay in place. If you have excess black cord you don’t want sticking out, you can loop that part around your hairstyle again or hide it underneath your ponytail or bun.

Step 3: Enjoy whatever movement with the peace of mind your hair will stay in place.
